Koenisegg Agera R

Koenigsegg is one of the few brands that can boast supercar machines as beasts, powerful (and expensive) to make it next to a Ferrari or a Lamborghini looks like a utility. Its latest creation, made a year ago, is the Koenigsegg Agera. With a performance of heart, thanks to its more than 900 horsepower, advanced technology and excellence and sophistication of its design and finishes, without a doubt the Agera is one of the most stunning supercars in recent times.

Video: A woman shows you how to build a proper circle track racer

Jeri Ellsworth
Jeri Ellsworth on building a race car - Click above to view video after the jump

Jeri Ellsworth is a certified renaissance woman. A high school and college dropout, she's a self-taught computer programmer and an ace welder and circle track race car builder. She has also started her own race car building business while her peers were at prom and went on to open a chain of computer shops.

More recently, Ellsworth has taken to YouTube to show aspiring NASCAR-types how a street stock racer should be built. Ellsworth is extremely careful and meticulous, knocking out some seriously pretty welds on her way to completing a 1981 Chevrolet Camaro racer.

Her work (and plumber's crack), looks to be enough to impress embarrass all of her male peers, both in the garage and on the race track. To check out Ellsworth's skill, hit up the video after the jump. It's the first in a series, so if you like what you see, we urge to watch 'em all.

Report: London Mayor Boris Johnson hits Obama's motorcade with congestion charge

Cadillac 1 in London

Rules are rules, and they apply equally to everyone - including the President of the United States. Especially when he's on foreign soil.

After President Barack Obama's famous Cadillac limousine - known as The Beast - got stuck exiting the US embassy in Dublin, it was shipped across the Irish Sea to England, the next leg of the president's European road trip. Now the mayor of London is demanding Obama pay the congestion charge for his limo and the rest of his motorcade.

A notorious car nut and onetime automotive journalist, Major Boris Johnson insists that the £10 ($16) charge applies to each of the president's vehicles, and that the bill is currently being tabulated. The fees are only the latest part of an ongoing dispute between the city's transportation department and foreign missions like the American embassy, an issue that Johnson reportedly raised directly with Obama during his visit.

London insists that embassies in the British capital city owe some £51 million ($83m) in congestion charges for driving through the city during peak hours, of which the American embassy's share is estimated at £5.3 million ($8.7m). Diplomats view the fee as a tax from which they are exempt under international law.

Long Term: 2011 Volkswagen Jetta TDI joins Autoblog's Long-Term Garage

2011 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

If you had told us last year that this year's most controversial redesign would be the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta, we would've politely walked away and laughed at your outrageous claim behind your back. We're like that. But here we are, and the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta is, arguably, the most controversial redesign of the year.

2011 Volkswagen Jetta TDI
The reason is not so much how the designer's hand has changed the car's look, but rather how the bean counters and product managers have completely changed what the Jetta is. It's no longer a premium compact sedan with a price to match. Now it's a near-mid-size four-door with an ultra-competitive base price.

Jetta fans and auto journalists have been less than enthused with the changes. Buyers, however, apparently disagree. Sales of the new Jetta through April are up 68.8 percent. So which camp is right?

After the untimely demise of our last long-term Jetta (follow the jump for the whole story), a 2010 model year TDI Cup Street Edition, we were offered a 2011 model to take its place. Driving these two diesel Jettas back-to-back will help us craft a before-and-after snapshot of what the car has gained and lost with this latest redesign.
