Pick of the Week: 2010 Hyundai Accent

hyundai accent.jpg

Hyundai has been experiencing both a product and image renaissance over the last couple of years. The Genesis sedan has forced most of us to use the words luxury and Hyundai in the same sentence. The Genesis coupe has done the same for performance vehicles. Sales of the compact CUV Tucson are up 245% so far this year. The Sonata is proving to be a huge hit with mainstream sedan buyers, and the upcoming Elantra is promising to do the same in the compact car arena.

Unfortunately, Hyundai's bright stars seem to have eclipsed Hyundai's sub-compact Accent. Sales are down from last year by 23% and the segment has become much more competitive since the current incarnation was introduced for the 2006 model year. With a redesign not expected for at least another year, the Accent looks to need some incentives help in order to stay on consumers' radar.
