Pick of the Week: 2010 MINI Cooper Convertible

Retro-styling and nostalgia are great tools to get consumers to notice your vehicle by tugging at their heartstrings with fond (though perhaps clouded) memories of times past. This approach has lead to amazing initial sales success for models like the VW New Beetle, Chrysler PT Cruiser, Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro and Mazda Miata. But with few exceptions, the initial excitement and fervor eventually wears off, with sales numbers following suit. Manufacturers are usually left with having to place incentives on those once hot-selling vehicles.
The Mini Cooper has generally managed to defy this trend, even eight years after being reintroduced to the US market. While dealers can no longer command premiums over MSRP, or even MSRP for that matter, incentives on the Cooper have never been excessive and it has remained relatively popular. However, as we move into colder months, convertibles become less appealing to car buyers. With 2011 Coopers coming in, Mini has placed a major incentive on the Cooper convertible.
