Volvo Models Latest To Be Affected By Garmin Nav Recall

As part of Garmin's recall of certain portable navigation devices that has already affected Suzuki and Nissan owners, Garmin is now asking Volvo owners who have a dealer installed Garmin nuvi 760 and 765 navigators to visit the Garmin recall page and check their serial numbers. These Garmin models may have a defect that causes some battery types to overheat and pose a fire hazard. This recall does not apply to the any of the Volvo factory installed navigation systems.
According to a U.S. Volvo spokesperson, models affected by the recall are: Volvo S80 2000-2011, S60 2001-2009, V70 2000-2011, XC70 2001-2011, XC90 2003-2011, S40/V50 2004-2011, C30 2007-2011, C70 2006-2011 and XC60 2009-2011. This is basically the entire Volvo line-up save the 2011 S60, as the system could be fit to any car. There are no reports of any injuries or fires due to this issue, and Garmin is responsible for handling all battery replacements, which are not available via your local Volvo dealership.
