With plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles (EV) poised to hit the market, "live" parking spaces are certain to become popular spots, especially when traveling away from the comfort of your home charger. BMW Group DesignworksUSA, in partnership with Canopy Airport parking will soon open what it's calling "the world's greenest parking facility" near Denver International Airport. Due to open before the end of November, the 4,200-space parking structure will provide a number of unique features.
Located at 8100 Tower Road, the structure will combine solar, geothermal and wind power sources plus airport shuttles using CNG, biodiesel and hybrid powertrains to help reduce emissions. Level-2 EV charging stations that will work with all OEM EV cars will provide complimentary juice for your Volt or Leaf. For more info on some players who hope to define the future of free-charge parking, see the release after the jump.
