2010 Los Angeles Auto Show: 2012 Fiat 500

Model: 2012 Fiat 500 When Available: January 2011 Price: $15,500
Edmunds Says: It's been over 50 years since the Fiat 500 was first launched in Italy, and over 20 years since the brand last sold cars in the United States. The manufacturer makes its return to the domestic market with the 2012 Fiat 500, a diminutive, bug-eyed compact that shares design cues with the original 500. Powered by a 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine that offers 101 horsepower and 98 pound-feet of torque, the upbeat 500 boasts loads of Italian flair (seen most memorably in its chic, nicely finished cabin) at a price that's almost $5,000 lower than that of its most direct rival, the Mini Cooper. Fuel economy figures haven't yet been released, but Fiat promises high fuel efficiency and low emissions.
