2011 Ford Edge Tech Testing: MyFord Touch Puts Tech at Your Fingertips

Ford has been on a roll of late, and in more ways than one. The company is making great vehicles almost across the board -- from the perennial best-selling F-150 pickup to the Atlantic-crossing Fiesta compact -- and it's resulted in recent record profits. Plus, Ford received mad respect from the American public for not taking government bailout bucks. But part of Ford's success can also be attributed to the company's aggressive technology tack, which produced the wildly successful Sync system and has also transformed the way automakers and consumers think about in-car electronics.
And competitors -- both domestic and import -- are still playing catch up. The latest example of how the Blue Oval continues to raise the bar in car tech is the MyFord Touch system, which debuted this year on the 2011 Edge and as MyLincoln Touch on the 2011 MKX. As I found while testing the system in an Edge Sport, MyFord Touch is so feature-deep that it takes awhile even for technophiles like me to fully get a grasp on everything and how it operates.
