Saavy Shopper: New Videos Prep Shoppers for the Switch to Electric

As electric cars start trickling into the marketplace, some consumers are probably considering the switch from gas to volts. A new crop of videos, such as "Ocean Crude," pictured above, is aimed at opening the minds of Americans to this paradigm shift. "Ocean Crude," from Plug In America, presents the political and environmental issues surrounding the use of petroleum as a fuel. A series of videos by Southern California Edison, meanwhile, is a more nuts-and-bolts approach, providing starter-level information and step-by-step instructions.
Plug In America is releasing seven 30-second public service announcements with the aim of motivating shoppers who are politically aware and have strong environmental beliefs. The Plug In America site contains a lot more down-to-earth information for shopper. SCE also has many tools and specifics aimed at shoppers considering either plug-in hybrid or pure electric vehicles.
