2011 Chevrolet Cruze Eco Garners 42 MPG EPA Hwy Rating

General Motors is crowing about the official fuel economy numbers for the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze Eco model, and it's not unjustified. According to today's press release, the Cruze Eco has received an EPA mpg rating of 28 city/42 hwy with its standard six-speed manual transmission (26/37 mpg with the optional six-speed automatic). The Cruze Eco carries an MSRP of $18,895 (including destination charge), and it will go on sale in January.

The refinements in each area paid big dividends towards the car's overall efficiency, while providing engineers with valuable information to help enhance the efficiency of future Chevrolet models. "We left no stone unturned or piece of sheet metal un-weighed," said Chuck Russell, vehicle line director.
